Our Alaska trip for 2007 was quite a ride...

With sunset an hour before midnight, there was plenty of time for mischief...

Week one was for the boys....and Bill finally got his King Salmon!

(Unfortunately, it was not quite a World Record)

Rob would fly in from Minnesota and slam the halibut

Jeff would welcome his new friends Tom & Preston Ziegler from Sun Valley, Idaho.

Fishing for boys week was either red hot or icy cold,

but there were plenty of angry Eskimos and chewed up propellers.

Although Bill and Rob would go home with coolers full of fish, the bite shut down during Tom and Preston's visit.

As the boys headed home, Carlee and the fish would arrive for "Couple's Week".

A Kenai tradition was born.

Our guests were Fred & Nita Trenkle, Cliff & Mary Bee, and Rachel & Dave "Noble".

It was a wonderful mix of 30-somethings...40-somethings...50-somethings...and 60-somethings!

"Rachel", as Fred called her, or April - as the rest of the world knows her would do many things while in Alaska...

including painting the Nobel's house...

which she did not yet own, but where her furniture already lived, and she was busy remodeling...

get herself engaged on the river dock...

                 ride a giant wood salmon...

and inspire a new Kenai Cocktail... the "Billy Bland"...

She had quite the week!

Although Dave also landed a "Near World Record King Salmon" (only 97.39 pounds short)....

Fishing went from slow...                                                                                    to okay...

to pretty darn good...

 to down right great....

right up to the day the Trooper visited Swiftwater!

Unfortunately, the old folks seem to take their toll on the youngsters!

Although it took several innings for "Hoffman"

to get his second wind,

by the end of the week Dave was going into extra innings,

closing an escrow,

filleting fish like a pro,

staying up past 8:00...

Best of all, he finally would manage to land Rachel!

Before weeks end...

we would clean fish, and eat while we smoked it.....

                            Clean a few more  fish....

Eat a little bit more....

Toast good friends...several times...

Hang out with the Natives...

Watch Fred choke down the Motherload at Sal's

and then enjoy a special "Rachel" Sushi roll made from

the finest available paper towel and silver salmon skin....

                  .

Then we would clean a few more fish...

before we ate a little more...

including Carlee's spicy sushi...

and Sal's lo-cal cinnamon rolls....

then we would clean a few more fish....

Have a few more drinks and something else to eat...
